Custom-made decals are used by private car owners to make their cars look cool and by businesses to advertise their services and brand. Whatever your reason is for wanting a custom decal, you will need to consider a few things when working on your design. Read on to find out more.

The colour scheme

The colour scheme of your car is a significant factor in determining what you can do with your decal. When designing a decal for your car, think about if you want it to blend well with your vehicle's colour or if you want some contrast between the decal and the bodywork. More subtle decals that blend in can work well to add small touches to individual panels or parts of the car. However, if you plan to use your decal for promotional reasons, a high contrast decal will help grab attention.

The level of transparency

Decals come in various designs and categories: solid, translucent and graduated. Solid decals are a solid colour with no transparency to them. Translucent decals will have some transparency to them, meaning you can see through them. Graduated decals will gradually change from a lighter to a darker colour, making the decal look like it is fading into something else.

Once you have chosen a design for your custom decal, consider what will work best with the shape and area you are applying the decal to. If you think that two or more designs would suit you better, you can combine them and design your own unique decal.

Size and placement of the decal

Considering the size and placement of your decal is essential if you want it to look good on your car. For example, a small decal will be lost among large panels. On the other hand, a large decal will dominate smaller areas such as the front panel or the spoilers and may look worse than two or three smaller decals.

If you are using your decal for promotional purposes, think about where best to put it so that potential customers can see it. In many cases, it is best to use the sides of the vehicle as these are the areas that people will see for the longest time as the car passes in the street.

If you would like more advice and information, you should contact a local company that designs and produces car decals. A member of the team will be happy to help.
